Mrs. Isabelle Bartholomew organized the Denver Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated in September 1955. The chapter was sponsored by the Memphis, Tennessee chapter. After the required probationary period, Dr. Ruth Howard, National Officer from San Francisco, officially initiated the Denver Chapter into the National Organization June 23, 1956.
The chapter officers for 1956-57 were:
Isabelle Bartholomew, President; Irene Johnson, Vice President; Regina Lewis, Secretary; Addie Spurlock, Treasurer; Mildred McCleave, Corresponding Secretary.
In 1970, Denver Chapter transferred from the far Western Region to the Central Region. Dr. Marie Metz was the first Regional Officer from the chapter.
Denver Chapter celebrated its 50th anniversary with a grand luncheon gala on March 10, 2007. Our golden anniversary theme of “CELEBRATING OUR PAST, OUR PRESENT, OUR FUTURE … PROVIDING A LEGACY FOR ALL”, honored the many accomplishments achieved over the past 50 years and of those yet to come.
